JOINT PLANNING COMMISSION

Colfax Township and the Village of Thompsonville

In early 2011, Colfax Township and the Village of Thompsonville became partners in an inter-governmental agreement to form the Community Joint Planning Commission (JPC). The JPC is a legal entity with the authority to perform planning and zoning functions. When appropriate, the JPC makes recommendations to the two legislative bodies for or against amendments to the Joint Master Plan and Joint Zoning Ordinance. Only the township and village, together, may adopt changes to the master plan and zoning ordinance. JPC meetings are open to the public. Opportunities for public comment are at the start and end of meetings, and specific topics requiring additional time may be added to the agenda by contacting the secretary.
